I first started making sound-inspired ceramic sculpture shortly after a major surgery in 2006 that rendered me completely deaf in my right ear. I became curious to pursue the role that sound might play in my art by creating the resonance that I could no longer perceive. I started making simple rattles and witnessed their transformation over time into rain sticks.
